Msgr. William Bilinsky 1982-1983, 1987-1995rnrnMsgr. William Bilinsky was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 20, 1939. Fr. William graduated from St. Basil’s College, Stamford, CT in 1961 and completed his theological studies at The Catholic University of America with a Licentiate in Sacred Theology. He was ordained a priest on February 2, 1965 by Bishop Jaroslav Gabro. He was named a monsignor by Pope Paul VI in 1976 and was bestowed the title of Canon by Patriarch Josyf Slipyj in 1973.rnApart from his assignment at St. Joseph Parish he served as associate pastor of St. Nicholas Cathedral, worked as a therapist for clergy, religious, and laity of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans, worked many posts in the eparchial administration, and served as Eparchial Administrator following the death of Bishop Gabro. He retired on October 1, 2001.rnrnHe was pastor of St. Joseph Parish from January 1, 1982 – February, 1983 and again from March, 1987 – July, 1995. During his pastorate, a rectory was constructed, the old church renovated and an Iconostas was installed in the church.A sought after preacher and lecturer, he still conducts missions and retreats. He has also lectured extensively on end of life issues and addiction. He joined the staff of the Resurrection Health Care system in 1995. He was also Director of Clinical Ethics for that health care system.rnrnHe currently assists at Mary, Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Mandeville, LA as well as at several other North Shore churches. He is also spiritual director as well as the therapist on call for St. Joseph Seminary College, St. Benedict, LA.
