In the Eastern Catholic Churches, any person of any age receives communion as soon as possible after baptism and chrismation. Infants and children are not required to fast or  partake in the Mystery of Reconciliation (Confession) before communion until they are old enough to be aware of their sins, known in the Latin Church as the age of reason.

It is at this age that our parish takes the opportunity to educate children and their parents about the catechism of the Ukrainian Catholic Church so that they can begin to approach the Holy Eucharist as grown and self-aware in the eyes of the Church.

We welcome you to register for First Confession classes, which begin every October, by emailing [email protected] or by calling the Parish Office 773-625-4805. When registering please specify which language of instruction (English or Ukrainian) you prefer.
