An ecumenical prayer service was held in Chicago on February 24, dedicated to the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Bishop Venedikt Alexiychuk led the prayer. Representatives of various religious denominations gathered at the Holy Name Cathedral to honor the memory of the fallen and pray for peace.
The event was attended by the clergy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Cardinal Blaise Supic, representatives of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Orthodox communities, Protestant churches, as well as representatives of the Muslim and Jewish communities. Together they offered a prayer for Ukraine, its defenders, and all those who suffered from the war.
The cathedral was packed with hundreds of Ukrainians and Americans coming to share this moment of grief, hope, and faith. The burning candles, tears in their eyes, and silence, along with the words of prayer, created a special atmosphere of unity and a shared desire for a just peace.
This event became yet another confirmation that the pain of Ukraine is felt by the whole world, and faith and unity of people of different faiths is a powerful force capable of fighting even in the darkest times.
