In the parish of St. Joseph the Betrothed in Chicago, the traditional "Bethlehem Flame of Peace" action, which is carried out by the plastuns every year, took place. The auspicious fire, brought by plastuns, symbolizes the light of Christmas and spreads among the parishes, giving warmth and joy. The fire is stored in special lamps and brought forever burning to convey this symbol of peace and goodness.
This year, many new plastunists from Ukraine joined the action, bringing with them new energy and renewing the movement, injecting fresh blood into the local plastun environment. However, they did not forget about the old plastuns, among whom a special place is occupied by Andriy Durbak, a plastun who spent his whole life in Plast.
Plastuns solemnly brought the Fire of Peace into the church before the Liturgy, singing a special plastun song "Fire of Love, Fire of Good", which added to the festive atmosphere. Mr. Andriy Durbak, as usual, organized a fire distribution ceremony under the church. People, having received candles, took them home.
The tradition of the "Bethlehem fire" continues to unite parishioners and parishioners, giving everyone a part of the Christmas holy light.
