As the number of parishioners grew, so did the number of parish organizations. Thus, in March 2009, the most active men of the parish organized themselves into the Brotherhood of the Blessed Holy Martyr Mykola Charnetsky. The main task of the Brotherhood is spiritual education and economic work at the church. Myroslav Kalynyuk was elected its first chairman. Oleg Brylinskyi, Serhiy Andrusyk, Oleg Pavlyuk, Ihor Kulinych and Serhii Syutyk (current) were also elected as elder brothers in different years. This organization has grown rapidly and now has about 30 brothers.
Immediately after its creation, collections were organized during Liturgies and the fan of the Brotherhood was ordered. The first brothers planted trees and bushes around the parking lot near the church and arranged chairs on the balcony in the church hall. Currently, the Brotherhood is responsible for the lion's share of all repair and restoration work in the church and work on the development of the adjacent territory (replacing windows, building a fence, installing seasonal decorations, etc.). Also, the Brotherhood is one of the "foundational pillars" of the famous annual Uketoberfest, which gathers thousands of Ukrainians from all over North America.
It should be noted that the Brotherhood is well known outside this parish, as it is always happy to help other Ukrainian parishes and organizations and takes an active part in the life of the entire Ukrainian diaspora in the Chicago area.
From the first days of Russia's full-scale military aggression, the Brotherhood focused its main efforts on volunteering to provide Ukrainian defenders with everything necessary to preserve life: uniforms, helmets, body armor, means of communication and surveillance (radios, starlinks, drones, optics, night vision devices, etc. ), medicine, cars, and much more. Also, the Brotherhood collects funds for the rehabilitation of the wounded and for the support of their families in Ukraine. Various charity events are organized for this purpose (creative evenings, fairs, concerts, picnics, etc.). All collected funds are used exclusively for the specified purposes. Numerous thanks, diplomas and awards, as well as flags signed by guys from various combat units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are the best evidence that all these efforts are not in vain.
The brotherhood is open to everyone who cares about the fate of Ukraine and who wants to help, because together we can do much more!
TOGETHER TO VICTORY!!!
